John Seymour Associates - Management Training - Improving Customer Service

Course Overview - 2 days
As organisations increasingly focus on “managing lean” and optimising resources, so the demands on individuals – managers and team members alike – increase. Add to this, change – as the new constant – and we recognise the need today for recognising and managing stress in the workplace, and learning how to harness the positive forces of pressure.

  • Learn how Stress can be a positive as well as a negative force
  • Discover the “early warning” signs indicating potential Stress for yourself or others
  • Apply a toolkit of techniques for avoiding, reducing and managing Stress
  • Learn how to manage high workloads and stressful environments

Who will the Course Benefit?
All individuals, managers and non-managers alike who need to be equipped to recognise stress (in themselves or others), take action to avoid, reduce or deal with stress, harness the forces of positive pressure.

What skills will the participtants gain?
Participants will learn how to:-

  • Identify different forms of Stress – both positive and negative, and take account of different reactions to stressful situations
  • Analyse causes of Stress and recognise “early warning signals” in themselves and others
  • Differentiate between Stress prone and Stress resilient individuals, whilst de-mystifying and de-stigmatising different responses to pressure
  • Apply a series of practical skills to avoid stress in cultures and situations of potential pressure
  • Use a range of techniques to “re-stabilise” emotionally in situations where they – or others – experience stress
  • Recognise and harness the potential for positive stress (i.e. stimulating challenge and “stretch”) in their own working environment
  • Develop a personal and/or team plan for minimising stress and managing pressure in their own team, function, organisation or working culture

What is the Course Content?

To support participants in recognising the positive impact of “healthy” challenge and stimulus, as well as the restrictive (and potentially damaging) impact or negative Stress; to equip participants to avoid, reduce and manage negative Stress in themselves and others; to show them how to harness Positive Pressure as an empowering resource.
